The ‘Mallard’ Antenna Enabling Critical Communications for Toyota’s Police and Fire & Rescue Vehicle Conversions

Sure Antennas are proud to be working alongside Toyota on their latest Police and Fire & Rescue vehicle conversion programmes. As part of this collaboration, our 9-in-1 ‘Mallard’ Antenna is being fitted as standard across the entire fleet.

This partnership supports the rollout of specialist vehicles now being adopted by a growing number of emergency service organisations across the UK.

Supporting High-Performance Emergency Vehicles

Developed to meet the rigorous demands of frontline emergency response, the Toyota vehicles are built and converted at the company’s Burnaston manufacturing facility. Recently, members of the Sure Antennas team visited the site to see how the ‘Mallard’ Antenna is being integrated into the vehicle design. This demonstrated the value of early collaboration in ensuring a seamless and efficient conversion process.

The ‘Mallard’: For Futureproof Fleets

The 9-in-1 ‘Mallard’ Antenna is designed to future-proof vehicles by supporting both the current Airwave network and being ready for the upcoming transition to the Emergency Services Network (ESN). They have also been engineered to support the ever-increasing amount of equipment that is found in modern emergency service vehicles, without having to install multiple antennas on the roof, combining 2x LTE, 4x Wi-Fi, 2x GPS, and 1x TETRA function.

Integrated Push-to-Talk Communication

In addition to the ‘Mallard’ Antenna, Sure Antennas have also supplied an interior Push-to-Talk (PTT) button. This solution supports fast and reliable communication between the vehicle driver and wider emergency response teams, ensuring that critical information is relayed clearly and without delay. This PTT button is an essential feature in high-pressure environments.
